From recovery to resilience: Peloton’s “Standing Core” collection
These classes are totally transformative, especially when you're sustaining or rebuilding strength
I recently wrapped up 60 days of standing core classes with Rebecca Kennedy, and what started as a gentle way to stay strong during a chronic illness flare-up turned into one of the most powerful commitments I’ve made to my body. I love love love this collection.1
The short class lengths made it possible to maintain my athleticism without risking my recovery. If I woke up fatigued or in pain, I’d choose a 5- or 10-minute class; on better days, I’d go for 15 or 20.
After the first four weeks were, as Jess Sims would say, done and dusted, I had more stability and strength and was genuinely excited to keep going.
In just two months, I gained:
a renewed connection to my core and body;
noticeable relief from pelvic floor discomfort; and
better form and focus across all my workouts, especially yoga, and in everyday life.
Standing core isn’t easy, but it is low-impact. It’s also a challenge within itself: not an adaptation but a mode of strength training that requires focus, control, and balance.
“Contrary to popular belief, this isn’t a modified core class or made for beginners — it’s simply a different way to work your core,” Rebecca explains for well+good. “Some standing core is fast, some is slow, some is dynamic, some is static — mirroring life. It can be friendly to beginners and challenging for advanced athletes. That’s the beauty of it.”

These classes are effective, accessible, and versatile.2 The best part is you don’t have to choose between healing and strength. With standing core, you can have both.

Some of RK’s older standing core classes, as well as a few sessions with Becs and Matty, aren’t included in the collection. Pelo Buddy has a helpful archive of every standing core class from 2021 and 2022 if you want to take them all.
You really can do them anywhere, anytime!
